Welcome Stephen Abrams as New VP for Admissions and Enrollment

Mr. Stephen Abrams will be joining the Prep as the new Vice President for Admissions and Enrollment. Mr. Abrams, who is currently the Chief Admissions and Enrollment Officer at Loyola Blakefield, will complete the admissions cycle at Blakefield before coming to the Prep in April. He will then take the lead on efforts to enroll the Class of 2030 and beyond.

During the interview process, many outstanding candidates brought unique talents and valuable insights to the table. Even among this impressive field, Abrams stood out as an exceptional candidate. He has a deep history in admissions and enrollment and is well-versed in Jesuit education, having spent the past seven years at Blakefield, where he oversaw recruitment, retention, and enrollment-related marketing efforts. His leadership led to Blakefield achieving its highest enrollment in school history while also decreasing the acceptance rate. Additionally, he played a key role in stabilizing the school’s annual retention rate at 98-99 percent.

Before his work at Blakefield, Abrams served as Dean of Student Achievement at Baltimore Collegiate School for Boys, and worked as a teacher and admissions professional at Greenspring Montessori School and McDonogh School, his alma mater.

Professionally, he has been active with the National Association of Independent Schools, attending their annual conference and People of Color Conference. He also serves as Vice President of Baltimore Collegiate’s Board of Trustees, where he contributed to a successful charter renewal process. At Blakefield, Abrams is the point person for Community Engagement and Belonging and played an instrumental role in the school’s Strategic Planning Process.

Abrams’ experiences bring a wealth of strategic thinking and tactical execution that not only excel in the field of admissions and enrollment, but also in understanding and enhancing school communities.
He and his wife Kelly are the parents of a son, Wesley. We look forward to welcoming them to Philadelphia and the Prep Family in April. Congratulations!
